New Sustainable Homes and Commercial Tenants Ignite Change in San Francisco’s Emerging Neighborhood
Tuesday, April 15th, San Francisco Redevelopment Agency Loan Commission nearly unanimously voted to award $8.6 million to fund San Francisco Housing Development Corporation’s (SFHDC) mixed-use affordable for-sale development at 4800 Third Street at Kirkwood and Third. This Bayview Hunters Point (BVHP) project will consist of 18 homes above approximately 2,100 square feet of commercial space. Magic Johnson Starbucks and Bay Area’s Marcus Books are two tenants interested in leasing the space, and helping to ignite the transformation of this emerging San Francisco neighborhood and commercial corridor.
Conveniently located just steps from a muni-rail stop, SFHDC’s condominium units will introduce to the community 1 & 2 bedroom condos averaging between 700 to 1,000 square feet, and ranging in price from $141,000 to $225,000. The amenities of each home includes: 1) a secured entrance, 2) open space with green courtyard area, 3) nearby schools, parks and entertainment centers, 4) modern features and products built in quality building and, 5) reserved covered parking.
Sustainability is a top priority for SFHDC; important green-building features will help ensure the health and well-being of BVHP residents and new homebuyers. Sustainability components include: bicycle storage, photovoltaic cells to decrease electricity demands, kitchen tiled in linoleum, natural through ventilation, landfill waste diversion, 50% construction waste diversion, and water efficient landscaping.
